Configuring Microsoft Outlook 97/98

To configure Microsoft Outlook 97/98, perform the following steps:

Step one: Choose an e-mail client:

Note:To learn what version of Outlook you have, from the Help menu, click About Microsoft Outlook.

Step two: From the Outlook 97 Tools menu, click Services.

Step three: Click to select Internet mail. Click Properties.

Step four: From the Properties window, enter the correct information as indicated below:

  • Full Name: Your full name
  • E-mail Address: yourname@forexample-domain.com
  • Internet Mail Server: forexample-domain.com
  • Account name: The POP ID for your POP account
  • Password: The password for your POP account

Step five: Click the Advanced Options button.

Step six: From the Advanced Options box, enter your Outgoing mail (SMTP) address (e.g., smtp.forexample-domain.com).

Note:If you prefer, you may use the Outgoing mail (SMTP) address for your Internet Service Provider.

Step seven: Click OK.


Step two: From the Outlook 98 Tools menu, click Accounts.

Note:In Outlook 98 Internet Edition, from the Tools menu, select Accounts, select Add, and click Mail.

Step three: Click to select Internet mail, click Properties.

Step four: From the Properties window, enter the correct information as indicated below:

  • Full Name: Your full name
  • E-mail Address: yourname@forexample-domain.com
  • Internet Mail Server: forexample-domain.com
  • Account name: The POP ID for your POP account
  • Password: The password for your POP account

Step five: Click the Advanced Options button.

Step six: From the Advanced Options box, enter your Outgoing mail (SMTP) address (e.g., smtp.forexample-domain.com).

Note:If you prefer, you may use the Outgoing mail (SMTP) address for your Internet Service Provider.

Step seven: Click OK.
